After a week of competitions and sharing, the 2014 Penitentiary Games ended at the CREPS in Boulouris. This first national edition was thus held with a total of 39 penitentiary institutions from 9 regions of France.
With five years of partnership with the DISP PACA-Corse, promoting the idea that sports in prisons remain one of the surest means of reintegration, the Regional Olympic and Sports Committee of the Côte d’Azur participated in organizing what initially seemed like a crazy wager: Olympic Games for individuals under judicial supervision.
Referring to the 2012 regional edition and thanks to the active participation of the Regional Leagues and the CREPS of Boulouris, the event was able to take place brilliantly, considering the large number of participants: 1,500.
This policy is part of the actions desired by the CNOSF and is aimed at inmates whose cases have been particularly studied.
No incidents occurred during the week. Wearing the same jersey, inmates and prison staff mingled to form a single team with a common goal: to give their all.
Everyone left with a smile, and some even with a medal around their neck.
