-Friday 7th – 8 PM: L’ISOLA DISABITATA by Manuel GARCIA – New French creation
Salon Opera for 4 soloists and piano
On a libretto by Metastasio, which had already been used for Joseph Haydn’s work of the same name, the famous tenor Manuel Garcia composed a chamber opera in 1831, a year before his death, intended for his Parisian singing students. In the purest bel canto style, with colors reminiscent of Rossini, Bellini, or Mozart – he wrote sumptuous bravura pages where vocal prowess abound to best tell the story of two sisters stranded on a deserted island who despair of ever being found until one’s lover returns with his best friend. One will experience her first romantic feelings, and the other will finally pursue her love, broken by fate.
For the French recreation, the “Auteuil Zéro 4 Virgule 7” company has called upon a prestigious cast, bringing together young soloists trained in the best French lyric and musical institutions and currently enjoying a brilliant career.
