For this concert during the Memorial Weekend of November 11th, the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted for the occasion by Laurent Campellone, has scheduled in the first part the Hymn to Justice (opus 14) by Albéric Magnard.

A powerful work of undeniable originality, written by the composer who was killed by a German bullet on September 3, 1914, twelve years earlier in support of Captain Dreyfus, at the height of the “Affair.”

In the second part, the audience will hear Fauré’s famous Requiem, one of the most original of its kind from the entire 19th century, as it stands in complete contrast to the romantic tradition associated with the mass for the dead.

The vocal part of the work will be performed by the PACA Regional Choir (conductor: Michel Piquemal) while the soloists will be Jean-François Lapointe (baritone) and Valérie Condoluci (soprano).
