Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM, at Place Garibaldi, the teams from Greenpeace 06 will enliven the square with children’s games, dances, and activist demonstrations to engage passersby.
The star of the event…a polar bear!
Of course, it is not a real polar bear but a large mascot used by Greenpeace for the global campaign to protect the Arctic region, which the NGO is launching this Saturday, June 23, 2012.
Goal: to gather 3 million signatures over the course of a year to prevent planned oil drilling, which would permanently affect the Arctic ecosystem.
