The community policing initiative implemented by the mayor of Nice has been enhanced with a new specialized brigade that will take care of the Port district.
This policy allows the officers to have a better understanding of the situations within their jurisdiction and facilitates an easier and closer relationship with the local population, particularly the neighborhood merchants.
According to municipal authorities, the results confirm this choice and encourage continuing in this direction.
This new brigade is a logical continuation of the “Parks and Gardens” and “Jean Médecin” brigades and will certainly precede others, as the goal of the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, and his first deputy in charge of security, Philippe Pradal, is to develop this concept in other areas to ensure the best possible protection for residents, merchants, and tourists alike.
The desired territorial coverage ensures constant responsiveness to address any threats to physical and material integrity.
Regarding the new Port Brigade, it consists of 7 units, which will increase to 10 during the summer season, with a primarily preventive and rescue mission to assist swimmers and boaters in distress.
The inauguration also marked the christening of a boat, the Galeana, which will be equipped for maritime interventions.
