The prefecture of Alpes-Maritimes has approved the resignation of the municipal councilors of the city following the election of Yves Juhel after the death of Mayor Jean-Claude Guibal, and clarified its interpretation of the electoral code. A new election must take place within three months.

The prefectural services specify that “21 resignations from municipal councilors and their respective list members, all from the ‘UNITED FOR MENTON’ list, have been submitted to the prefecture, along with another resignation addressed to the mayor by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt.”

These resignations dated November 9 meet the legal criteria and are all stamped by the Menton town hall.

This episode has increased tensions within the Menton political sphere. The exact date of the election should be known by early December at the latest.
