The presidents of Haute-Garonne, Alpes-Maritimes, and Gironde reaffirmed their opposition to a Departments-Metropolises merger during a meeting this Wednesday with Jacqueline Gourault, Minister of Territorial Cohesion and Relations with Local Authorities, and Sébastien Lecornu, Minister in charge of Local Authorities.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to continue and strengthen the local cooperation and partnership agreements already underway, respecting and complementing the metropolitan and departmental authorities.
Additionally, they emphasized that forcing through such a merger would be particularly destructive to the territorial balances of the affected departments.
