The Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo is 30 years old! For three decades, the festival has been making its mark in Monaco and its surroundings with increasingly innovative programs, breaking boundaries between repertoires and eras.
Founded in 1984 by H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover, the festival has established itself as an internationally renowned event. Year after year, the posters and programs of the Printemps des Arts remain prestigious and continue to attract the greatest artists of classical and contemporary music. Thirty years later, the adventure is just as exciting.
Three decades of delighting the audience of the Azur coast! The Printemps des Arts will celebrate this anniversary with a grand festive gathering on Sunday, April 6. Sound, theatrical, textual, and choreographic experiences, Marc Monnet invites artists (Blandine Rannou, Duo Bottasso, Marc Ducret, Gianluigi Gelmettiโฆ), conservatory students, and the public to blow out the festival’s thirty candles, even in the most unusual placesโฆ
From March 14 to April 13, five weekends of music will animate the Principality with its “red threads” dedicated to composers Scriabin and Haydn, Hungary, Japan, Morocco, Baroque music, piano, and children, culminating in the festival’s Anniversary Gala.
The program constructed by Marc Monnet, at the helm of the festival since 2001, will take place in the cultural landmarks of Monaco such as the Opรฉra Garnier, the Salle Empire, or the Oceanographic Museum. “Beyond the Walls” concerts will also offer the opportunity to discover the Church of Saint-Michel in La Turbie, the Chรขteau des Terrasses in Cap dโAil, and the Salons de la Rotonde Lenรดtre in Beaulieu.
With major orchestras, masterpieces of classical and contemporary music, and meetings of talents and cultures, the 2014 edition of the Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo will once again be rich in discoveries. This year, atypical and unexpected moments will be part of the programming, such as “La minute de Charles Pennequin,” during which the French poet will offer the audience an offbeat performance, or “Les 3 minutes de musique avant le concert,” offering 13 original creations specially commissioned by the Printemps des Arts.
