TWO JAZZ 4 ONE STAGE: VINCENT COURTOIS MEETS CIE SO WHAT
On the occasion of VINCENT COURTOIS’ visit for a master class as part of the educational activities of the Cannes National Conservatory (Music and Theatre) with departmental influence, and the partnership of Compagnie SO WHAT with Le Printemps des Arts of Monaco, the Jazz Club of MJC PICAUD offers you an unprecedented “summit” meeting!
COMPAGNIE SO WHAT: For ten years, Compagnie So What has been practicing written and improvised music of the 21st century. Premiering at MJC Picaud, compositions specially written for the Printemps des Arts, from duo to sextet, with the added bonus of introducing the group’s latest CD: “Muses et Modèles: no dogma,” a shared desire to come together around the same language, that of today’s music—lively, free, festive, creative.
Featuring: Alex Benvenuto (bass clarinet), Laurent Lapchin (guitar, trumpet), Jean-Marc Laugier (double bass); Cédric Fioretti (drums). Guests: Thomas Guillemaud (soprano sax); Henri Roger (piano, guitar).
VINCENT COURTOIS: The marriage of jazz and cello is no longer a novelty in itself, but Vincent Courtois nonetheless challenges preconceptions. A free cellist, music only makes sense to his ears through its silences…

Devious eXperiment of Synesthesis (DXS) is a young French progressive metal band, led by the beautiful Aliénor. With their album CATHAR5Y5, the band will introduce you to their universe, a post-apocalyptic world both dark and hypnotic, leaving you to wander through the mazes of the human mind and its darkest neuroses.
VULCAIN (Paris)
This legendary French HARD ROCK band since 1981—the forge, metallic strength, rock in the blood—reformed in May 2010, and embarked on a reunion tour across France, Switzerland, and Canada. The band didn’t stop there; after sharing the stage with MOTORHEAD in its early years, VULCAIN ended 2010 on a high note by again sharing the bill with MOTORHEAD in December 2010 in Lyon. And we’ll have the chance to have them here at MJC Picaud to thrill our eardrums.
INCRY (Paris)
INCRY will let you feel the sweat and emotions of French rock. After 8 years of camaraderie, their concerts are true sharing moments with the audience. Tristan’s heavy riffs and melodic solos take off, Did’s bass notes control your breathing, Kourros’s voice captivates you, and Tatoo’s drumming gives you a punch!!!

“These three Niçois, all dressed in capes and masks, have a very important message to convey: ‘It’s all about food & sex, we feel great in latex.’ Well, the setting is laid! Initially practicing minimalist rock, this superhero trio quickly evolved their style with electro-trash and hip-hop rhythms. Their lyrics? Primarily based on food and sex! The audience’s quick interest was sparked by this original and energetic performance.”
LES NUITS FATALES DE JULIETTE DRAGON (Paris)
A punk’n roll revue where devilish pin-ups, absurd superheroes, and quirky pirates mingle with manga vampires, princesses, fairies, and cat women. The audience is seized by hallucinations and the atmosphere is infernal! The group Rikkha (Sensual electrochoc’n roll) opens the ball with an explosive live performance blending covers (from The Cramps to Nirvana through Iggy Pop, Nancy Sinatra, or Johnny Cash) and original compositions. Juliette Dragon is not left out, making interventions on songs with a performance or a burlesque strip show: a sultry femme fatale and scandalous lolita, she dances everywhere like a fury. Sensitive souls beware!

ENDGAME by Samuel Beckett (1957) by Cie Série Illimitée
For Hamm, stuck in his wheelchair, weary eyes behind dark glasses, all that remains is to tyrannize Clov. While at the back of this empty interior, Hamm’s parents end their lives in trash bins, the two heroes repeat before us what seems to be a usual day. They unravel and stretch together the time leading them to an end that never concludes, but with play and retort, as two partners would in an ultimate chess game. Thus, words triumph, while the bodies, ravaged and aged, are lost. Hamm and Clov use language as a sumptuous diversion, in exasperated and tender exchanges. Beckett delightfully wrote the language of the end, a tongue on the brink of silence, that frays and pants, transparent and serene, the last refuge of imagination.

How to participate?
Candidates have the freedom to present sketches, clowns, mimes, impersonations, sketches, text excerpts (with author’s authorization), a man or woman show, stand-up, or slam for a maximum 15-minute performance in front of a jury of entertainment professionals.
At stake:
At the end of this Trampoline, two prizes are at stake:
– The 1st prize will be programmed at MJC Picaud
– The 2nd prize will perform as the opening act of a festival with all expenses paid.
