The Château Festival is back this weekend in Nice. For its 71st edition, this festive event is primarily political. Organized by the French Communist Party, political meetings, debates, activities, and concerts will enliven the Château hill in Nice from June 29 to July 1.

It is one of the local events of this early summer. Every year, a festival is held on the Château hill to debate topics of ecology, solidarity, and democracy. With the setup of 50 stands from associations, unions, and political parties, the festival attracts thousands of visitors eager to participate. For this edition, the kickoff of the 71st Château Festival will be marked by the 1.5-kilometer hill climb race “La verticale du château,” organized by the FSGT.

During the two days, a debate space will be open to discuss with various elected officials from the PCF. Debates will revolve around the current government, Europe, and political news. On this occasion, 14 music groups will perform on Saturday and Sunday evenings on the two stages specially installed for the event. Artists from all musical genres, from hip-hop/reggae of the young talent Volodia to metal with the band Swarm.

The festival will be open to the public from 12 p.m. on the various viewpoints of the Château hill, in a colorful and shaded space full of history.
