For several years, this project had been on Christian Estrosi’s mind: bringing together under the same roof the state services dedicated to security* and the municipal police in place of the former Saint-Roch hospital, freed up after its activities were transferred to Pasteur 2.
It is a 36,000 m2 site that will also include 60 social housing units which will be allocated to the families of municipal and national police officers.
This dossier has been on the table for several years, with restructuring projects even being presented (in 2015, then in 2017).
To move it forward, Christian Estrosi had to engage ministerial authorities (former ministers Bernard Cazeneuve first, then Gérard Collomb visited the site) and secure financial support commensurate with the stakes (initially 50 million was mentioned, which has risen to 70 million).
Yesterday, the City Council deliberated on the acquisition of the site (valued at 40 million by France Domaine), and shortly, the Supervisory Board of the CHU (chaired by… Christian Estrosi) will assume the deliberation to accept the sale.
The overall budget for the operation is estimated at 170 million euros.
