The Prom’Classic, the must-attend first 10 km race of the season, celebrated its 18th edition this Sunday.
In tribute to the victims of last July 14th, no events can take place on the Promenade des Anglais until July 2017, so the Prom’Classic had to rethink its course and offer a new race format for a special edition.
It was with joy and good spirits that the participants set off on the Mathis road to finish at the steps of the Nice Acropolis Congress and Exhibition Center.
There were 5,232 participants, confirming the popular success of this event.
Among the men, it was a quartet race with Mohamed Moustaoui winning the race in a sprint finish in 29’05’’, ahead of Abdelatif Meftah (29’18’’), James Theuri (29’23’’), and Pierre Urruty (29’28’’). Further back was Yohan Durand, the top favorite, who finished in 30’01’’.
Among the women, the fastest was the favorite Laurane Picoche, a regular at the event, who secured victory in 33’57’’, ahead of Angélina Gours in 34’48’’ and Julie Chuberre Dode in 34’56’’.
