On the occasion of the sixth leg of the promotional tour for the French Grand Prix of Formula 1 (Le Castellet, from June 21 to 23), the Renault team set up its paddock this Wednesday, May 1st, on the most beautiful avenue in the world. One year after Alain Prost and Nico Hülkenberg, the decibels roared under the V8 of Daniel Ricciardo’s single-seater. To the delight of the Riviera public.
Nice, sixth pit stop. On this holiday, curious onlookers and enthusiasts gathered along the Promenade des Anglais to enjoy a unique attraction. The new driver for the diamond brand, Daniel Ricciardo, successively took the wheel of the powerful RS01 and E20 cars for some driving demonstrations: acceleration, braking, and drifting (or “donuts” for the experts). The Australian, winner of seven Grand Prix, heated the asphalt and the rubber of his tires to the rhythm of the applause from the hundreds of spectators present.
“It’s amazing to see the enthusiasm of the French for Formula 1 and Daniel Ricciardo,” said Éric Boullier, former director of the Renault and McLaren teams, now ambassador of the French Grand Prix. It is important to connect F1 and the GP as closely as possible to the fans during these magical events because there is a real culture of motorsport in France.”
In addition to these driving sessions, the temporary village offered multiple attractions: quizzes, pit stop workshops, reflex testing, virtual reality simulator… and of course, a photo and autograph session! The promotional tour continues its circuit to Toulon, Aix-en-Provence, and Saint-Raphaël… before reaching the Castellet track on June 21st and crossing the famous checkered flag.
