The PS referendum calls for the unity of the left

Latest News

The objective is clear: to put the leadership of the Left Front and, more specifically, of EE-LV (Europe Ecology – The Greens) in a difficult position regarding the decision not to unite from the first round in order to add up the votes and create the necessary momentum.

For the Socialists in the PACA Region, this step is inexplicable given that the three left-wing parties have governed together for three terms and claim to have a positive common record (according to them).

However, political choices do not always follow rationality but sometimes personal ambitions, making everything more difficult: when you want to create a Cooperative Region (we are still waiting to understand what that means…) and you focus more on defeating your allies from yesterday at the polls rather than your opponents of tomorrow… what are you aiming for?

In any case, in the event of a defeat (as all the forecasts predict), it will be easier to find those responsible.

However, the national leadership of the Socialist Party believes that grassroots pressure could, at the last minute, change some already ratified decisions. In politics, one should never say never.

Forty-two polling stations will be open in the department for three days with a slogan full of affection: “Yes to unity.”

The question that voters will have to answer is simple: “In the face of the right and the extreme right, do you want the unity of the left and the ecologists in the regional elections?”

It will also be possible to vote online by connecting to the website: www.referendum-unite.com

Regarding predictions, there is talk of 200,000 to 300,000 voters at the national level and 2,000 to 3,000 at the local level, where only the ballots cast in the polling stations will be counted.

Naturally, a nearly plebiscitary result is expected, but it remains to be seen how many will go to the polling stations and how many will do so with a click.

Answers will be available Sunday evening after 8 PM.
