Certainly, for Trachel Street and Colonel Jeanpierre Square, once again, nothing is going right?
More or less a year after the mobilization of part of the residents (with street demonstrations, sit-ins, and petitions) against the renovation project proposed by the Town Hall and the subsequent route changes, will we see a repeat?
Yesterday afternoon, a good fifty people gathered to denounce the situation and, even more, to protest against the state of abandonment of the square, which generates a certain insecurity due to the noisy presence of vagrants and squatters.
The appeals to the Town Hall for targeted interventions have remained unanswered to this day, and the state of the premises shows obvious neglect and uncivil behavior.
The protesters are wondering the reason for all this and the feeling of being punished for having thwarted municipal plans is emerging.
“We probably touched some sensitive interests,” some murmur – “and the town hall wanted to retaliate.” Truth or rumor?
The fact is that no control and security measures have been put in place and even the cleaning appears more than approximate.
Laurent Rodrigues – spokesperson for this group – expresses his concerns: “What we want is the launch of the renovation plan as agreed with the Town Hall of Nice. They wanted to expropriate us and we prevailed!”
“It is difficult to understand this situation and this state of neglect. The presence of the homeless brings insecurity to our children and we have requested intervention from the special parks and gardens brigade, but nothing has happened,” he added.
Other protest demonstrations are planned soon if the situation denounced does not find a receptive ear from the municipal authorities.
