The national “Geste d’Or” competition rewards project owners of building heritage enhancement or urban and landscape development sites.
The reconstruction work on the cobblestone pavement, approved by the steering committee of the Château Hill development project, was carried out thanks to a collaboration between the Green Spaces Department and the Nice Côte d’Azur archaeology service, in agreement with the Architect of the Buildings of France.
In addition to the identical restoration of the 342 m² of cobblestones, entirely handcrafted using an ancient technique (removal, sorting of pebbles, and repositioning), five holm oak trees were planted, two stone benches and an orientation table were restored.
The Nietzsche terrace, formerly a medieval dungeon, located at the highest point of the park, corresponds to the oldest historical part of the Château Hill.
