The Cannes Croisette will once again come alive from September 23 to 30, with the rhythm of the thirty-ninth edition of the Régates Royales – Panerai Trophy, featuring a fleet of about fifty Dragons and an armada of more than eighty classic yachts, some of which are proudly over a hundred years old!

In 2017, Cannes will celebrate thirty-nine years since the revival of the Régates Royales, one of the oldest sailing races, since the first edition took place in 1929 to honor King Christian X of Denmark.


Cannes turns towards the glorious years of yachting to welcome gaff rigs, schooners, cutters, sloops, yawls, Class J, vintage one-designs, 12mJI, 5.5mJI… A week of racing off the Lérins Islands for a fleet divided into eight categories according to the size, age, and rigging of the sailing boats.

An exceptional gathering as the largest and most famous yachts of the last century and before come to compete, such as the majestic Elena of London (55m, designed by Nathanael Herreshoff, built in 2009), Cambria (40m, designed by William Fife, built in 1928), Sunshine (38m, designed by William Fife Junior, built in 2003), Aschanti IV (34.67m, designed by Henry Gruber, built in 1954), the two Moonbeam of Fife (30m, designed by William Fife, built in 1903) and Moonbeam IV (35m, designed by William Fife, built in 1914) or the 15mJI Mariska (27.00m, designed by William Fife, built in 1908) and Tuiga (23.18m, designed by William Fife, built in 1909), …

And like every autumn, the Dragons will rally to the bay of Cannes for one of the most beautiful gatherings of the series, and this year, more than forty-five crews representing twelve nations will make the trip.
