The region is all set for the return of high school students.

After the Nice City Hall for primary and elementary schools, and the Departmental Council for middle schools, it is now the Region’s turn to ensure that the start of the school year will be conducted under the best conditions and to reassure students and supervisory staff.

“It was essential not to postpone the start of the school year, which would have been a major mistake! Many children have not seen a classroom or attended a class since last March 16. The risk of a general dropout is too great and affects an entire generation,” commented Renaud Muselier, president of the Region, which manages 296 high schools that accommodate nearly 200,000 students.

“We must clearly learn to live with the virus. Our priority is to protect the health of our high school students while ensuring the continuity of the public education service, alongside the State and the Rectorate,” he concluded.

The Sud Region will therefore provide a washable fabric mask, reusable 35 times, to all high school students.

The 4,000 high school staff members, like those from the services, will be encouraged and assisted in preventive back-to-school testing.

Buses, regional trains (TER), and facilities will be disinfected according to the standards established by the Government. School bus drivers will be equipped with backup surgical masks for our high school students.

Nearly 400 hand sanitizer dispensers will be installed in all high schools.
