The organizations of the monotheistic religious cults from the French Riviera have shown solidarity in this terrible circumstance. A religious service was held yesterday, late in the afternoon, at the Cathedral Sainte-Rรฉparate, attended by the president of the Republicans, Nicolas Sarkozy.
On the side of the religious leaders, the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) condemned the attack “with the utmost vigor,” denouncing this “heinous and despicable attack that targets our country on the very day of the national holiday celebrating the values of liberty, equality, and fraternity.” It also calls on the Muslims of France to pray “in memory of the victims of this barbaric attack.”
In a statement signed by its rector Dalil Boubakeur, the Great Mosque of Paris, expressing “its immense emotion and dismay,” “strongly condemned this heinous and horrific mass criminal attack.” It “calls for the unity of all citizens in this new terrible ordeal that mourns the entire national community.”
Mohammed Moussaoui, the president of the Union of Mosques of France (UMF), linked to Morocco, also condemned “with the utmost vigor” the “cowardly and despicable” attack in Nice, whose modus operandi, “regularly mentioned” by the Islamic State organization, reminds us that the fight against terrorism must prioritize “education and prevention” among the youth, “some of whom are today being transformed into instruments and weapons of terrorism.”
The Crif (Representative Council of French Jewish Institutions) is horrified by the new bloody attack that struck the population of Nice, sowing desolation and causing numerous victims, on the evening of July 14, a moment of national unity par excellence.
The hydra of terrorism has struck again. More than ever, the national community must be united and strong. The fight against terrorism must also be global. Terrorists pursue the same goals in Paris, Nice, Brussels, Istanbul, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and everywhere in the world.
