The cathedral has regained its shine! The renovation project of the cathedral’s façade began in October 2011. It was entirely funded by the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, to the extent of 600,000 euros. One year later, the building had a fresh new look.

sainte-reparate.jpg Originally from Caesarea in Palestine, Reparata is said to have died in 250, at the age of 15, during the persecutions of the Roman Emperor Decius. According to tradition, her body was placed in a small boat that drifted across the Mediterranean.

The boat subsequently reached the shores of Nice and was brought back to land by angels, thereby giving the famous bay of Nice its name.
Around 1690, relics of the saint were placed in the cathedral.

In the 17th century, her fame was such that she was chosen as the Patroness of the city of Nice.
