On the occasion of the 211th anniversary of the birth of Pepin Garibaldi, the Republic of Nissa will pay official tribute to a child of Nissa: Pepin Garibaldi (1807-1882) this evening at 7 PM at Garibaldi Square in Nissa, in front of his statue.
A wreath-laying ceremony, speeches, and songs are planned. The flags present will be those of the Republic of Nissa, the Federal Occitan Republic, and the European Union (Garibaldi wanted Nissa to be the capital of Europe).
“This will be the 12th time we honor our hero since his bicentennial in 2007,” said Cristou Daurore, president of this association.
