The friendly Republic of Nissa, presided over by Cristou Daurore, is celebrating the 3rd national holiday tonight, which honors the Dedication of Nice to Savoy in 1388.
On this occasion, the Charter of the local currency, which was created with merchants, artisans, and associations, will be presented. Its name is the “nissart.”
Don’t miss the gathering for folklore enthusiasts (serious ones) at Place Massรฉna (Apollo statue), renamed for the occasion as Plaรงa dei Barbets, at 7:30 PM.
On September 28, 1388, Nissa and its County were united for almost 5 centuries with the House of Savoy. Chambรฉry was the capital, then Turin from 1562 until 1860.
This event changed the destiny of Nice: had it remained in Provence, it would have become French in 1481.
