It was in the air but now it’s official: profoundly disagreeing with the political direction of LR, which has shifted to the far right, Christian Estrosi and others (the Constructives?, the UDI) will organize, after the Senate elections on September 24th, a movement that will position itself “above the fray.”
In fact, as rugby practitioners know, one “enters the fray,” and that’s what will be necessary to advance in the political arena, where the game will become tougher in the near future. One can expect severe tackles, and how can we not imagine it? Some personal score-settling… in the old-fashioned way.
After the tsunami caused by Emmanuel Macron and his followers, the decomposition and recomposition of political parties was inevitable. It is currently taking place and, whatever the new landscape will be, nothing will be the same as before.
The left, center, right, and even the far right will have to rethink their political offerings and their organization on the ground and within institutions.
The Alpes-Maritimes, the Metropolis, and the municipalities will see their balance disrupted depending on the choices that elected officials, particularly the “barons” of local politics, will be obliged to make. The days of the “paso doble” are over!
Opaque situations will burst open, and new alliances will form.
How will Christian Estrosi and Eric Ciotti (the latter promised an important position within the future leadership of Les Républicains) share power and supporters in the territory?
Now that they will no longer rally under the same banner, will the rivalry transform into open warfare?
