Latest News

This Sunday, November 21, the third and penultimate debate of the Republicans will take place live to distinguish between the five candidates in the right-wing primary.

On Sunday at 9:05 PM on CNews/Europe 1, Michel Barnier, Xavier Bertrand, Eric Ciotti, Philippe Juvin, and Valérie Pécresse will try to stand out and score points with the 148,000 members of the Republicans.

They will be the ones to decide between them later, from December 1 to 4, during the party congress.

Nothing is set in stone
According to the polls conducted by [Le Figaro](https://www.lefigaro.fr/elections/presidentielles/congres-lr-les-sympathisants-commencent-a-croire-en-la-victoire-20211118), Xavier Bertrand seems to be the favorite (42% favorable opinions from the overall French public following the second debate on Sunday, November 14). However, nothing is set in stone, as he is closely followed by Michel Barnier (41% favorable opinions) and Valérie Pécresse (38% favorable opinions).

Xavier Bertrand appears to be the most convincing on issues of purchasing power, health, education, and especially immigration (37%). On the other hand, Michel Barnier has convinced most French people on issues regarding France’s place on the international stage (28%), ahead of Xavier Bertrand (27%) and Valérie Pécresse (19%).

This third debate will therefore be an opportunity for these candidates to stand out even more.
