“The Return of the Port Festival”

Latest News

Philippe Soussi, Deputy for the East-Littoral territory, presents the thirteenth edition of the port festival. Nice’s favorite event will start on Saturday, June 8 at 4 PM.

Having existed for fifteen years, the port festival made its grand return last year after two years of absence. Organized by the city of Nice, in a thriving neighborhood, the budget allocated for the event is 300,000 euros. Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, wanted to reconnect with an event-driven policy.

From 4 PM to midnight, the port will welcome numerous visitors for free with various activities. The entire port area will be buzzing with activity. Concerts, dining, children’s workshops—organizers have planned everything to gather as many people as possible. Philippe Soussi is convinced that more than 40,000 people are expected to attend the festivities. In 2018, 30,000 people came to see the first fireworks display since the July 14 attack.

It’s the Nice event that marks the start of the summer period. One of the “most beautiful popular festivals,” according to the Deputy for the East-Littoral territory, is expected to turn into an XXL celebration this year. With the return of the Chefs’ Village on Quai Infernet, food enthusiasts can enjoy dishes prepared by chefs and pastry chefs, as well as various wines from Bellet. A total of eight hours of festivities is planned for this day.

José Orsini, one of the chefs present that day, confides: “Our goal is to introduce gastronomy to people who do not necessarily have the means to go to a restaurant.” About ten pastries and nearly seven different dishes will be offered.

The port festival is a genuine attraction for both the people of Nice and tourists. Fun activities such as face painting workshops, inflatable structures, and creative workshops will entertain children, while adults can attend concerts and participate in the swimrun event (a mix of running and swimming in the sea) by the ONN (Olympic Nice Swimming).

Generations can also compete on a course, accessible from the age of ten, inspired by the Ninja Warrior TV show.
