About the European Arthouse Cinema Day
Initiated by CICAE (the International Confederation of Arthouse Cinemas), the European Arthouse Cinema Day has a dual objective. It aims first to highlight European films and, more importantly, to promote arthouse cinemas by emphasizing their importance. This day provides an opportunity for these cinemas to showcase their identity, the European dimension of the films they program, and all the work they do to offer a diverse program.
Since 2016, this annual event has taken place in over 40 countries and in more than 700 cinemas. Far beyond a European day, it is a worldwide event.
Actor and director Mathieu Amalric is among the ambassadors of this European Arthouse Cinema Day.
Each cinema participating in this day is free to choose its programming, as long as it offers European films.
