Yesterday, Christian Estrosi, Louis Nègre, and Joseph Segura presented the new tramway line that will serve Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Cagnes-sur-Mer.

The promise is kept!,” proudly declared Louis Nègre, Mayor of the city of Cagnes-sur-Mer, regarding the tramway project mentioned in 2009. The tramway line 4 is expected to be operational between 2025 and 2026. It will be 6.2 km long and consist of 15 stations. Starting from the future multimodal hub at the airport, it will pass through Saint-Laurent-du-Var and its seaside and Cagnes-sur-Mer through the city center.

Christian Estrosi speaks of a “spectacular enhancement of the site” involved but also of a “new life for local businesses” and a “developed safety plan” along the new line with the creation of new jobs.

Louis Nègre describes the region as a “pioneer in terms of mobility” as well as in terms of environment. “It’s a change of planet for the inhabitants and a change for the planet,” since the implementation of the tramway will reduce air and noise pollution by 22%, according to the engineers in charge of the project.

While awaiting the new tramway, a new bus network will be put in place starting in September between the airport and the two towns on the right bank.
