The “ROSE” Regattas of Antibes: Sailing Together Against Breast Cancer

Latest News

Every October, the sailboats at Port Vauban in Antibes will be adorned in pink. Tomorrow, on October 18, 2025, the SOS Breast Cancer association is organizing the 11th edition of the “ROSE” Regattas, a solidarity day combining sports, sharing, and awareness about the fight against breast cancer.

The event has become a major highlight in the Pink October calendar in Antibes. Since 2013, the SOS Breast Cancer association has been bringing together patients, relatives, healthcare providers, and sailing enthusiasts for a day on the water. The “ROSE” Regattas are more than just a competition; they provide a space for meeting, freedom, and solidarity, far from the constraints of illness.

This 2025 edition will start from Port Vauban. Registrations are open to all those affected by breast cancer, whether they are patients, in remission, or caregivers. The association emphasizes: the number of places is limited, and a medical certificate is required.

Sailors from the Antibes Regatta Society will make their boats available. Some will also offer their crew to supervise the participants. The event, endorsed by the French Sailing Federation, is also open to neighboring clubs. Last year, 55 sailboats and over 220 people participated in the race.

A Day on the Water to Raise the Wind of Solidarity

The program will start at 9:30 AM with a welcoming breakfast at the Antibes Regatta Society. It will be an opportunity to register the participants, form the crews, and listen to the briefing before setting sail. The regatta will start at 11:30 AM. Everyone will set off with their picnic for a few hours at sea. The return is expected around 3:30 PM with a musical welcome on the docks.
The day will conclude at 5 PM with a raffle, awards ceremony, and a cocktail dinner.

Beyond the race, the “ROSE” Regattas remind us of the importance of screening and physical activity. Sailing, a team and balance sport, becomes a means of escape and reconstruction here. The event is aimed at women affected by the disease and their loved ones, who are invited to share this moment together.

The association acts throughout the year alongside people affected by breast and gynecological cancers. In its “Pink Space,” it offers listening times, supportive care, and adapted physical activities like yoga, Nordic walking, Pilates, fencing, dance, and even kayaking. It also organizes prevention actions such as the “Pink Walk,” “Pink Jog,” or “Giant Pink Yoga.”

This continuous presence aims to support women far beyond medical treatment. The regatta follows the same approach: to create bonds, regain confidence, and restore the enjoyment of shared effort.

The 2025 edition receives support from the city of Antibes, the Alpes-Maritimes Departmental Council, the French Sailing Federation, the Port Vauban 21 management, as well as several private partners, including Maison 123 and Avรจne. Many hospitals, clinics, and local associations also participate in the day, whether at sea or on land.

Sailboat owners wishing to get involved can register on the Antibes Regatta Society website.
