With over 43,000 buildings registered or classified under “Monuments historiques,” France boasts an incredible heritage with a history as rich as it is varied.

The Saint-Nicolas Cathedral in Nice is one of the 14 monuments selected to become France’s favorite monument for 2020, as part of the show hosted by Stรฉphane Bern on France 3.

It is possible to vote until July 28 on the France Tรฉlรฉvision channels.

The cathedral stands at the center of the city, near the Boulevard du Tzarรฉwitch, at the end of the Avenue Nicolas II.

It is the most beautiful religious building of this rite outside of Russia and the most perfect representation of Russian religious art abroad. Inspired by the style of Moscow’s churches, the interior boasts very rich decorations, adorned with numerous icons, frescoes, and carved woodwork.

The site underwent significant renovations for 2 years between 2014 and 2016. The Russian Federation was officially recognized as the owner of the cathedral in 2012, after an 85-year period during which an association had managed it before the Russian Federation asserted its rights.
