This Thursday, July 30, at the port of Nice, aboard the sailboat Bora Bora, the association Matelots de la Vie presented the 8 hospitalized children who will embark on an adventure for a unique expedition titled “from the Island of Beauty to the Principality.” The young sailors will depart from Nice on Friday, July 31, heading toward Corsica: Saint-Florent, L’Île-Rousse, Galéria, Calvi, then to the Principality of Monaco, before returning to Nice on August 20.
The expedition offers a maritime adventure dedicated to children hospitalized for long stays. The children come from various hospitals in France and become privileged interlocutors with other hospitalized children via the internet, where they will share their visits and discoveries through video reports, photos, and texts on the association’s website.
8 children will spend 3 weeks aboard the sailboat Bora Bora, participating in activities related to the sea, science, and the environment. In partnership with the Princess Grace association, the Matelots de la Vie has been organizing expeditions for 10 years. The aim is to create a dynamic environment among the children, families, and care teams within the services, while offering hospitalized children a window to the world.
For Mrs. Corazza, head of the Matelots de la Vie association in the Alpes-Maritimes, “the expedition mainly exists thanks to the donations we receive; for the past 10 years, we have organized this every summer for sick children. Our main goal is to make them smile and help them discover the world, and today, thanks to the support of OGC Nice who gave them gifts, it’s even better.”
Former OGC Nice players Christophe Meslin, Bruno Valencony, and the iconic former captain José Cobos presented the children with gifts from the club and showed their support for the association.
