The Saint-Isidore Sports Microsite
To make Nice a city of sporting excellence, the municipality has launched an ambitious plan to promote and develop sports practice, with the implementation of major projects, the renovation of local facilities, and the development of sports activities for the youth in particular.
A Sports Site for the 311 Students of St Isidore School Group
The creation of the Saint-Isidore microsite, which will be used by the children of the adjacent school group, addresses the requests made a few months ago by the school council.
Therefore, a small synthetic sports field specifically for handball and basketball (24 m x 13 m) and an educational garden were created at a total cost of 75,000 euros including tax.
The School at the Heart of Municipal Sports Activities
The development of sports practice, especially among the youth, is a central concern for the municipality. Thus:
- High-level athletes regularly participate in classes: 70 classes were visited in 2010-2011;
Sports activities are offered during lunchtime (from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm) in 15 schools; Saint-Isidore, Les Magnolias, Bischoffeim, Bois-de-Boulogne, Sainte-Hélène, Lanterne, Thérèse-Roméo, Saint-Sylvestre, Rosalinde Rancher, Fuon Cauda, Terra Amata, Les Orangers, Papon, Saint-Barthélémy, Jules Ferry;
Municipal sports action is organizing the “Wednesday Oxygen” program this year. Children aged 8 to 12 will be able to participate in full-day outdoor physical activities (skiing, hiking…).
Four sites will welcome children in the morning for departure to activity locations: Sports Park (West), Jean-Médecin Pool (Center), Von Derwies School (North), Jules Ferry School (East).
