As the chronicles have attested on several occasions, nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” has for some time been diverted from its initial use for its euphoric properties for recreational purposes in France and in the Alpes-Maritimes department.
The medical community warns about these misuse cases and considers the subject a public health issue.
For these reasons, the Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes has issued an order prohibiting the sale of nitrous oxide to minors, its use in public spaces, and the abandonment of nitrous oxide canisters in public areas.
Will this ban suffice to curb this new addictive practice that can have serious adverse effects?
