“The scene moves to ‘Le beret de la Tortue'”

jpg_Beret_Tortue.jpg After calling out to us with “Stop it, you’re annoying me!”, they brought “Le Père Noël est une ordure” to the stage. Then, they wrapped us in “Le Carton”. For this 2008-2009 season, the artists of “La scène déménage” are back with “Le beret de la Tortue”!

But why choose to wear this particular headgear? To find out the reason, Nice Premium spoke to the president of the association, Virginie Decorte, alias Vivi, who not only broadcasts on Radio Trafic FM but also performs on stage.

Nice-Premium: So Vivi, tell us why you’ve decided to wear “le beret”?

Virginie Decorte: I heard it’s coming back in style…

N-P: No, but you also chose the “Tortue” one! What makes it better than the leather hat from Blues Brothers?

V.D.: That… you’ll only understand once you see it!

N-P: More seriously, after the interpretation of three comedies, La scène déménage is about to present their new production. Can you describe what the audience can expect to see on Saturdays, the 11th, 18th, and 25th of October at Hotel Scribe?

V.D.: It’s a contemporary and burlesque comedy. The theme of the play “vacations with friends” appealed to us because it resonates with everyone—who hasn’t spent vacations with friends or family? Often, this closeness causes tensions but also allows us to get to know each other better and discover new facets of the people we love. We’ll discover “intimate” things about all the characters and see their true faces as the play progresses, the masks will fall.

N-P: A play with summer vacation vibes in autumn?

V.D.: If you’re nostalgic for the beach, this play will help take that away. In the end, even on vacation, these characters are forced to follow a schedule and go on outings they didn’t choose because they have to “follow” the group leader, Xavier, who wants to organize everything for everyone. It comes from a good place, but since no one has the same pace, it will quickly become tedious and turn into anything but a vacation.

N-P: With endearing vacationers, I suppose?

V.D.: Yes, they all have their bad and good sides. What makes them “endearing” is that the audience sees a bit of themselves in each of them.

N-P: Here’s a review of this play from Figaro Magazine: “Well observed and full of psychological insights, the authors avoided falling into archetypes and caricature.” What review would Radio Trafic FM give?

V.D.: On “Le Carnet du Week-end” or “Le journal des festivals” (on 107.7), I give activity suggestions, but I don’t judge them, because it’s all so subjective… What is certain is that if you like to laugh and enjoy theater, you’ll have a good evening… and if you come with friends, it might make you want to go away with them next summer.

N-P: In two words “Le beret de la Tortue” is?

V.D.: Delightfully human…

N-P: Thank you Vivi, see you on Saturdays in October!!!

V.D.: Except the first because I’ll be at the Paris Motor Show… Thank you Audrey and see you soon.
