The sea is the theme of the 8th Sports Heritage Meetings.

Latest News

This year, the 8th Meetings on Sports Heritage will address the theme of the sea as a heritage of physical activity. Organized by the UFR STAPS through Yvan Gastaut and Jean-Paul Derai, these Meetings will take place at the National Sports Museum on March 28 and 29, and at the Citadel of Villefranche on March 30.

On the Cรดte d’Azur, as in other maritime spaces, sports have engaged with the sea for over a century. The activities are numerous and varied; some of them captivate the public. For instance, sailing, through solo races, has created a true mythology during the times of Alain Colas and Patrick Tabarly.

A round table featuring renowned journalists and Eric Tabarly’s brother, Patrick, will be organized as a kickoff for these meetings, this Thursday at 6 PM.

Some regular attendees of these events, such as Georges Vigarello, Paul Dietschy, and Didier Rey, will be present the following day for round tables discussing various places and practices.

As for Saturday, March 30, in the morning, in Villefranche, the spotlight will be on freediving with Claude Chapuis, Joseph Strazzanti, Pierre Frolla, and Guillaume Nery, who will discuss diving as a heritage of the Villefranche harbor as a prelude to the upcoming world championships in September.

Once again, these meetings promise to be rich, promising, and convivial.
