The Selecioun of the County of Nice advances to the semi-finals of the ConIFA World Cup by knocking out Padania, a three-time World Champion (2008, 2009, 2010). They will play their semi-final match on Friday at 4 PM, against South Ossetia, which defeated Abkhazia after a penalty shootout (0-0).
The Selecioun triumphed in the quarter-finals of the ConIFA World Cup this Wednesday morning (1-2). A high-level performance, well-deserved victory.
The players from the County of Nice made a strong impression this Wednesday morning. For their third match in three days, including two in less than 24 hours, and despite four suspensions (Puyoo, Gignoli, Buthiaux, Cubilier), they controlled Padania and achieved a logical victory. Two magnificent goals scored by Malatini (8th) and Tchokounte (86th), while the Italians scored just before halftime.
Courage, perseverance. The Niçoise mentality. The team from Nice went beyond fatigue. Present in the duels, technically superior, they gave everything for their crest.
Against cunning Italians, the Niçois managed their lead well. The experienced Assoumani-Delfino-Sborgni back line imposed its law throughout the match, supported by a generous group.
The equalizer from Padania just before halftime only delayed the outcome. Stephen Migliore and his teammates monopolized the ball and did not fall into the trap of a still tough opponent.
Substituted for the first scorer, Malik Tchokounte delivered for his team four minutes before the end of regular time. Perfectly set up by Jaziri, the Dunkerque forward unleashed a powerful shot, giving the Italian goalkeeper no chance.
Proud to be from Nice, proud of their crest, the Selecioun players are not done fighting.
