The Selecioun in the final of the Euro 2015 conIFA

Latest News

The Selecioun, composed of players born on the soil of the former County of Nice, continues to impress. Created just a year ago, the Selecioun qualifies for a second final in a major international competition after its 3-1 victory against the English team from the Isle of Man.

A clear victory following a complicated start to the match. Having faced difficulties against the English team’s long aerial game, Delerue’s teammates waited patiently to strike the first blow of the game, against the run of play.

Shortly before halftime, Jean-Philippe Mattio’s players wisely secured their position with a clear strike from Floridi, after a poorly cleared ball by the British team.

A match full of control

With a lead established, the players from Nice attacked the second half with vigor, with Giraud scoring the evening’s third goal in the 51st minute.

Repositioned in a 3-5-2 formation after the break, the team gained greater stability in the midfield. A successful strategy despite a late, inconsequential goal by the opponents.

As a reminder, the Selecioun has faced the Isle of Man three times since its inception, boasting three victories. The last encounter between the two clubs was in the previous World Cup final, which the team from Nice won on penalties.

The Selecioun will face Padania FA after their significant 5-0 win against the Hungarians from Felvidek.

The final is scheduled for this Sunday at 4 PM.
