The series of Saturday protests: is the third wave truly psychological?

Latest News

We feared its arrival, but the “third wave” is already here – and it is psychological. If Sunday remains the day of the Lord, Saturday is becoming the day of protest, this individual and collective need to release frustrations like someone who lets out a scream to free themselves from the knot blocking their stomach.

Through this motivation, we try to understand what is happening in the minds of those who feel the need to protest every Saturday for any given reason (there is always one, and it’s not always unfounded).

Another explanation could be that these people have nothing better to do than to play the role of revolutionaries, reveling in aggressive slogans that fulfill their need to exist, transforming them from anonymous citizens to protagonists (at least that’s what they think).

Then there’s the “rioters and predators” version, a specialty of Parisian demonstrations, but that’s another story. In fact, according to their supporters, these rebels are merely reacting to the provocations and attacks from the police. It could be said that it’s a case of self-defense.

In provincial cities, it’s usually calmer.

Yesterday in Nice, around fifty people gathered at Place Garibaldi to protest against the bill which, according to them, would infringe on “individual liberties”.

Then, after a short “fit and healthy” walk, they headed to Place Masséna, where they were joined by another group of about fifty protestors against hunting activities.

Many among them were not wearing masks, which is against the law but in line with their spirit of defending “individual liberties”. Makes sense, right? Yes, because if we follow the rules, where will we end up?

“Individual liberty” means that everyone does what they want. And the others? Who cares!

Scientists have indeed told us that the third wave is/will be “psychological”, right?
