Yesterday, the people of Nice were called upon to pay tribute to Charlie Hebdo. A very significant mobilization that gathered about 25,000 people. A crowd of this size hadn’t been seen for a very long time on the Promenade des Anglais.

Starting at 11 a.m., participants gathered in front of the Théâtre de Verdure to begin a silent march towards the War Memorial.

In an impressive silence, the procession, led by the city’s mayor, Christian Estrosi, the President of the General Council, Eric Ciotti, and the Vice-President of the Regional Council, Patrick Allemand, along with many elected officials and local religious representatives, aimed to pay tribute to the victims of the recent deadly attacks.

A sea of people that gave chills!

This gathering, intended to be without distinction of thought or origin, for strong and dignified unity around republican values, represented a tremendous surge of solidarity and defense of freedoms.
