It must be recognized that clarity is not the prerogative of managing the health situation of ski resorts, where the closure of ski lifts to the public is causing turmoil among mountain stakeholders.


A new decree published on Saturday, December 6 in the official Journal amends the decree of October 29 and specifies the conditions of access to ski lifts, chairlifts, and gondolas during this Covid-19 pandemic period.

The decree authorizes the use of ski lifts by “minors licensed with a sports association affiliated with the Ski Federation.” Up until now, only young hopefuls, club athletes listed as PPF who are training for a professional career to represent France in competitions, and high-level skiers for continuing their training on the slopes were authorized.

This new provision does not seem to satisfy either the industry representatives or the local elected officials who support them for obvious electoral reasons.

Between coffins and ballot papers, their choice is made. They must think, cynically, that the dead no longer vote. So, it’s better to think of the living. It’s sad, but that’s how it is!
