Undoubtedly, Charles-Angé Ginésy, President of the Departmental Council of Alpes-Maritimes, is a determined elected official. Anger has been rising more and more in recent days following announcements made by the Prime Minister regarding the possibility of a seven-day isolation period for French people returning from skiing abroad. Measures that are out of touch with reality and seem unfeasible.
Despite various attempts at dialogue made in recent weeks, the Government does not seem inclined to reconsider its position. This decision to close the resorts and its consequences on the mountain economy evokes immense misunderstanding and great concerns for everyone.
In order to be heard, Charles Ange Ginésy and Eric Ciotti have jointly decided to join the urgent appeal filed today by Laurent Wauquiez, President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, in the hope that the Council of State will validate it: “After a devastating climatic event for the valleys of the Middle and Upper Country, the Government’s decision is an economic and social disaster for the 15 resorts in the region.”
After associating the department with the initiative of the Rhône-Auvergne Regional Council and other Alpine departments that have appealed to the Council of State against the Government’s decision not to open the ski lifts for the Christmas holidays, he took action on the snow in Valberg, his stronghold: ski instructors, ski lift operators, shopkeepers, craftsmen, or simply residents who came with their children… gathered this Thursday in Valberg, on the Garibeuil snow front, to form a large red and black heart.
Their goal: to raise government awareness about the distress of winter sports resorts, banned from opening due to anti-Covid health measures.
