The Thรฉรขtre de la photographie et de lโimage Charles Nรจgre in Nice is hosting the photo exhibition “Show Me Your Neighborhood.” This is a unique exhibition, as it features photos taken by children from ZSP (priority security zones).
From November 20, 2013, to January 5, 2014, children from the neighborhoods of Les Moulins, LโAriane, La Trinitรฉ, and Bon Voyage had a special task. They were asked to photograph the environment in which they live to document their everyday situation.
This initiative was organized in collaboration with the National Education, the Police, and the Gendarmerie. The aim was to offer a different perspective on the city of Nice, as it came from the viewpoint of the children. And the result is not just about violence and vulgarity.
With the help of their teachers, the children produced very clean images. You can see buildings, everyday life, and even the sky. This project was a great success, with nearly 200 photos made public.
The posted photos are hopeful and showcase the positive aspect of life in the neighborhoods. The children were thus able to freely express themselves to share what it’s really like.
A book will soon be published, and some photos will be displayed throughout the city of Nice.
