Voting, always a manifestation of democratic participation, was received with great satisfaction by the socialist leaders of the Alpes-Maritimes Federation, who acknowledged the results of yesterday evening’s vote concerning the choice between the five motions presented for the upcoming Congress in Toulouse from October 26th to 28th.
The outcome could have seemed predetermined, thus stripping this internal competition of all its interest and, as experience shows us, without stakes, there is no engagement.
This was not the case this time because more than 900 people turned out, accounting for more than 50% of registered members, which is truly a good score, as confirmed by Patrick Allemand, the first departmental secretary: “Yes, I am very satisfied with this participation, which I see as a willingness to be present in the life of the party. I hope it will be even better next Thursday when we have to vote to elect the new party secretary, whose legitimacy will be granted by a massive vote from the registered members.”
The results of this consultation were in line with expectations: motion 1, with Harlem Désir as the first signatory (locally supported by all the party’s heavyweights) overwhelmingly won the majority of votes with 82%, followed by motion 4 by Stéphane Hessel with 8.6%, and motion 2, which remained at 5.6%.
The socialists of Alpes-Maritimes have therefore massively chosen motion 1, which should lead Harlem Désir to become the first national secretary.
See you next Thursday for a new vote, this time between the candidates representing the top two motions at the national level.
