While in the PACA region, particularly in the Alpes-Maritimes, the Covid epidemic is in full swing since the arrival of the Omicron variant, the president of the region declares that he must be โalongside those who are closely or distantly affected by Covid dailyโ.
This Wednesday, Christian Estrosi announced the weekly distribution of self-tests to the families of Nice; this time, it is Renaud Muselier, president of the Sud region, who announces that 500,000 FFP2 masks will be distributed to the sectors most affected by the Omicron wave.
โLast June, during the regional campaign, we promised to build a strategic stockpile of masks for the region. Now this strategy is proving to be directly useful: FFP2 masks offer significantly better protection for those who wear them, and we need to equip those who are in direct and daily contact with the public!โ, writes Renaud Muselier in a statement.
Offering better protection against the virus, FFP2 masks have become mandatory in some countries, such as Austria, for example. These masks are also mandatory in Brussels and in shops in Germany.
Here, although they are not mandatory for the moment, the Sud region is donating 500,000 of these masks. They will go notably to regional high school staff (120,000 masks), to the UMIH Provence-Alpes-Cรดte dโAzur to help restaurateurs, hoteliers, and cafรฉ owners (65,000 masks), to the regional Chamber of Trades and Crafts (65,000 masks), and to bus and school transport drivers (35,000 masks).
โAs long as the epidemic lasts, we will stand by all the stakeholders of our region to support and protect them on a daily basisโ concluded Renaud Muselier.
