The latest addition to sporting equipment has been named: its name is Vésubia Mountain Park.
This choice is explained by the President of the Departmental Council, Eric Ciotti, who is the project’s designer and main financier: “‘Vesúbia’, which refers to the Vésubie in Niçois, anchors this unique and exceptional facility in our territory and our identity. Associated with ‘Mountain Park’, it also becomes descriptive and understandable by everyone, whether English-speaking or French-speaking.”
We are in what is called the Niçoise Switzerland, but with a name like that, one might think they’re in the mountainous regions of the American West.
This 3,000 m² sports complex features an indoor climbing gym, an indoor canyoning area, artificial caving galleries, as well as an aquatic center with a 250 m² swimming pool and a wellness area.
This center aims to boost year-round attendance in the Vésubie valley. The target to achieve: attract more than 70,000 visitors per year.
Critics find this complex oversized and ill-suited for a mountain village. In contrast, Eric Ciotti, the President of the Departmental Council, defends the project, which required nearly 65 million euros.
Following France’s largest zip line set up in Valdeblore last winter and the Alpha park at Boréon, the Vésubie adds a new string to its bow.
