In front of a packed audience, over 200 attendees, the President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department strongly expressed the sports policy conducted in collaboration with the sports movement by citing “land of sports and nature.”

The Alpes-Maritimes has nearly 250,000 sports license holders, or 1 in 4 inhabitants, and 2,365 clubs of the Côte d’Azur, a testament to a certain form of vitality and youth.

If our territory is so sportive, it is certainly partly due to the CDOS 06, whose primary mission is to defend and promote sports and its values throughout the Alpes-Maritimes Department. We will continue to provide unwavering financial support for 2019 to offer logistical aid to sports associations: to offer training actions for club leaders and volunteers, and to organize prevention and fight campaigns against violence on various playing fields, associating Vanessa Siegel, Vice-President of the Department, in charge of sports, for her exceptional work in favor of this highly unifying discipline.

The deputy Eric Ciotti reminded of the values of sport: “Sport is a tool of social cohesion that imparts rules and values to our youth; this is why the Alpes-Maritimes Department, under the president’s impetus, is attentive to supporting our clubs and sports infrastructures to promote excellence. Thank you to Philippe Manassero for his dedication and promotion of sports in our department.”

Deputy Roussel informed that 2019 would see the implementation of a new shared governance of sport and a “sports” law will be drafted and proposed in parliament.

Philippe Manassero recalled in his speech that the victories won in 2018 by France were often exalted by athletes from the Côte d’Azur, citing Hugo Loris, Julia Pereira, Charlotte Bonnet, Jamela Blondou, “This department breathes sports, and these victories of 2018 must push us forward in 2019.”

He also announced that the CDOS 06 would heavily invest in promoting women’s sports but also take its place by organizing, at the request of the CNOSF, a major debate with sports stakeholders in this department on citizenship, social cohesion, and diversity.

“May this land continue to be an exceptional land of sports fertile with great champions,” he concluded in front of an audience entirely devoted to the cause of sports.
