The Stadistes won 36 to 23 yesterday afternoon at 3 PM at the Arboras, against the Vaucluse newcomer Bédarrides!
Victory was far from guaranteed yesterday afternoon for Stade Niçois before kickoff, against their nemesis from last season, AS Bédarrides-Château-Neuf du Pape, who defeated them in the race for the Fédérale 2 championship title.
After a strong match on both sides, the Stadistes finally won 36 to 23 against the black and greens.
The tradition dictates that matches between Bédarrides and Nice are fiercely contested, and this one was no exception.
From the 8th minute, the Niçois had taken the lead with a superb try, doubling and then tripling their score; so much so that by the 20th minute, the Niçois were leading 19/3.
A major brawl, resulting in 2 red cards, somewhat stalled the momentum. However, in the final minutes of the first half, two more tries were scored. The first try was a penalty try for Nice, the second, an opportunistic try in favor of Bédarrides.
Bédarrides returned from the locker room with more bite, and the second half was fiercely contested, but the Niçois and the Varois scored alternately.
In the end, 5 tries to 2, synonymous with an offensive bonus, and a final brawl, which saw two more reds issued and sent everyone back to the locker rooms.
Stade Niçois climbs back to third place in the Fédérale 1 – Pool 4 standings with one match less and 29 points, while Bédarrides remains in 8th place with 18 points. Stade will host RC Hyères Carqueiranne next weekend at 3 PM at the Arboras.
