This weekend, the statue of the former President of the Republic was vandalized.
Pierre-Paul Leonelli, Deputy Mayor of Cleanliness at the Nice City Hall, condemned on Twitter the graffiti that was made on the statue of Jacques Chirac in the Ponchettes neighborhood. Over the weekend, several inscriptions and designs were painted in red on the statue of the former President of the Republic. As the deputy mayor announced, the inscriptions were immediately removed, and a complaint was filed.
The anarchist graffiti on the statue of Jacques Chirac are stupid, pathetic, and senseless. They were immediately erased, which is a clear intention expressed by @cestrosi. A complaint will be filed! In #Nice06, we do not tolerate any damage to our heritage.
The monument created by artist Patrick Frega in 2020 had already been vandalized in February 2020.
