The works consist of constructing reliable structures in line with the PPRI criteria of the lower Var valley and are part of the flood prevention action program for the lower Var valley, Papi Var.
The objective of these works is to ensure the reinforcement of the dyke delineated by RM 95 between the Jean Aicart roundabout and the Pierre de Coubertin roundabout, ensuring the stability of the protective structures against the risks of failure during an exceptional flood.
A landscaped promenade with nearly 3000 trees and shrubs
These reinforcement works present the opportunity to undertake landscaping works along the Var. The goal is to create a landscaped promenade area that will feature nearly 3000 trees and shrubs, as well as picnic tables and benches. This green haven, stretching over 2 km between the Napoleon III bridge and the Jean Aicart roundabout, and covering an area of more than 6 hectares, will be integrated into the Parc Naturel Départemental des Rives du Var.
An educational trail to raise public awareness of the Var’s specificities
A path has been created to allow for the monitoring and operation of the dyke, as well as the circulation of pedestrians and cyclists. An educational trail will be developed, including informational and awareness panels about the history and characteristics of the Var river, the richness of its biodiversity, and flood prevention.
