FACE 06 (Federation of Student Associations and Corporations of Nice) launched last night the Niรงoise University Radio, the first university webradio on the French Riviera.
On the occasion of the launch of this new webradio, students from FACE 06 took over Gigi, located at the Port of Nice, for a pre-launch party filled with good cheer and laughter. Set up on a few tables near the entrance, the small radio studio was anything but amateur. Microphones, computers, a mixing console, cameras… Nothing was left to chance.
Many students attended, primarily friends and classmates of the presenters. In a friendly and warm atmosphere, the team members first posed for a photo in front of the audience, before settling around the table, each in front of their microphone.
Graig Monetti, the president of FACE 06 and host of the university radio, was delighted โto see so many people gathered to witness the beginning of a radio designed by students, for studentsโ. He also thanked everyone who helped set up the radio during โten months of hard work that is finally paying offโ.
From the start of the show, jokes and laughter abound. Each host is introduced, and one of them is sent among the audience to get them involved. Good humor is the watchword of the show, which fittingly carries the slogan โThe radio that resembles youโ.
In front of a packed room, Graig Monetti smoothly launches interactive games and quizzes with the audience. The general knowledge quiz, also known as โthe quiz that makes you lose your dignity if you answer incorrectlyโ, pits two chosen people from the audience against each other. The winner of the duel leaves with a gift from the webradio. Introductory dives, cinema tickets, driving lessons, headphones or jet-ski rides… Thereโs something for everyone.
The main debate of the evening is then launched. The theme: โwhat is a student radio?โ. The hosts express their views, and so does the audience. Always in a friendly and warm atmosphere, and this continues late into the night.
The actual broadcasting of the webradio will begin during the university return in September 2016. According to the association, all preliminary broadcasting authorizations have been obtained from the Higher Audiovisual Council (CSA) and SACEM.
