The Sulzer parking lot that was supposed to open at the end of last month, as announced by the Mayor during the inauguration of the Promenade du Paillon, will be delayed by a few weeks for technical reasons inherent to the company responsible for the construction of the facility.
Nothing too serious, to be sure, except perhaps the disappointment of Christian Estrosi for not being able to meet a timeline he himself had set. For once, his famous saying “I say what I do and I do what I say” will have to be put in the future tense, although very near.
The essential thing is that this work reaches its completion, and a few days after its official opening, no one will remember this slight delay. People’s concerns are elsewhere, so it’s indeed pointless to make a big deal out of such a small problem.
Or rather, what should the pedestrians, regulars or occasional visitors, say who have to wander in the middle of the road because the sidewalks are occupied by restaurant terraces?
Returning to the Sulzer Parking, Interparking, the delegate company of the Cari group, will proceed with the progressive opening of the floors, so it will be available to users as soon as possible. During this entire period, the inhabitants of Nice will benefit from free parking, and this until it is fully delivered.
With this new parking lot, 6,660 parking spaces in a lot (meaning a closed parking lot) in the city center will be available within a radius of between 50 meters and 1.5 km around the Promenade du Paillon.
The landscaping of the parking surface is to be completed by the end of December 2013, with green spaces and plantings. This project has been entrusted to Michel Péna, landscape architect and designer of the Promenade du Paillon.
It is hoped that this square will become a new lively area with a maximum of open spaces for pedestrians.
